Spartans Welcome New Head CoachWe are very excited to have Coach Bachusz coming to our organization. His work ethic, character and hockey knowledge makes him a great asset to the Spartans Organization. His years of experience at the college level will be able to prepare our players to succeed as he moves them to the next level. It is one thing to place a player at the college level, but it’s another thing to prepare a player for the demands and rigors of college hockey. Coach Bachusz will meet and exceed the standard of Spartans Hockey! We feel fortunate to have him leading our program. ~Spartans Ownership~ Coach Bachusz"Our goals for the season are to be a highly competitive, disciplined team focused on competing towards a national championship. The staff will be working hard this off season to recruit quality athletes both on and off the ice that want to work hard to improve as a player and for the team. We want players in our locker room that love the game of hockey and ultimately want to move on to higher levels of play including NCAA and the ACHA." New Head Coach
Prior to the Southern Oregon Spartans Coach Bachusz spent four years as Head Coach of Oakland University’s Hockey team in the GLCHL Conference at the ACHA Division I level. While at Oakland Coach Bachusz led the Grizzlies to Four Consecutive Nationally ranked top 12 finishes with a high in 2012 as the ACHA National Championship runner up. During the four years the team was also the GLCHL Playoff Champion in 2011, and the Regular Season League Champions in 2012. Coach Bachusz was named to the All Star game staff in 2010 and 2011. He earned Coach of the Year honors during the 2012 season in the GLCHL.
Prior to being named Head Coach with Oakland Coach Bachusz served as the assistant coach for three seasons, where he worked primarily with the forwards and special teams. Coach Bachusz helped Oakland win the teams first ACHA Division I National Championship in 2007. Prior to coaching, Bachusz played NCAA Division I hockey for Lake Superior State University from 1998-2003 in the CCHA, where he both led the team in scoring and served as captain his junior and senior seasons. While at LSSU Bachusz was named the Freshman of the Year his first season and was honored with the Copper Coaches Choice, an award voted on by all the LSSU varsity sports coaches and given out to the LSSU athlete who best displays leadership and exemplary athletic performance. Prior to his time at Lake Superior State, Bachusz played Jr. A in the North American Hockey League for the Compuware Ambassadors. Jeremy was named First Team All NAHL in 1997-1998, awarded playoff MVP in 1997-1998 and was also named MVP of the NAHL All Star Game in 1997-1998. While at Compuware Jeremy was also awarded the Barbara Ann Karmanos Award. After completing his degree at LSSU, Jeremy signed on to play professional hockey with the Arkansas River Blades and then the Cincinnati Cyclone both of the ECHL. Despite being a rookie in the ECHL, Bachusz was named an Assistant Captain of the Cincinnati Cyclones. In 2004 Jeremy retired as a player and accepted a position with Merrill Lynch as a financial advisor. ![]() Academic SuccessOur organization makes it a priority to ensure that the players enjoy academic success while under our care.
